EDGE (Defense): The Habs have two great offensive weapons in Subban and Wisniewski, both of whom have been fantastic in the second half of the season. Hamrlik is the most reliable 37 year old defenseman. Then there’s playoff veterans Jaroslav Spacek, Hal Gill and Brent Sopel. They have 216 combined games of experience and 2 Stanley Cup rings. It doesn’t guarantee a finals berth, but it does bring a steadying hand to the D. The Habs have some great depth on defense – if they didn’t, they wouldn’t be here. The Bruins can’t be underrated, they boast the world’s best defenseman in Chara . Seidenberg has been solid and Kaberle had another great year. Beyond that the Bruins can’t really match the Habs’ depth. It’s close, but with Kampfer injured, Shane Hnidy is their next NHL ready defenseman. Slight edge to the Habs particularly because of their shot blocking ability.
